Quick Tip: How to Reset Roller Axles

Walk Through of Resetting Roller Axles

If one or both of your belts are not turning it could be because one or both left side axle pins are out of place. This video walks you through how to reset the left side axle. While the video demonstrates the steps on the bottom burner the same steps apply to the top.

Common Symptoms

  • One or both belts are not turning but right-side rollers are.
  • Belts turn but when mix is poured on them they either struggle or stop.
  • Belt is sliding towards the front of the machine and offline of the rollers.
  • Tension lever won’t fully move or move easily back and forth.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Turn off machine and allow it too fully cool down.
  • Once cooled down, if possible, remove belt from the machine.
  • You then remove the two metal lug nuts that secure burner to equipment.
  • Then remove the entire burner (roll to roll) from the machine. Some force may be required to release the connection prongs from the back of the equipment.
  • The metal axle that runs through the center of the left side roller needs to be reset to make sure it goes through all four guide holes and extends through the back of the frame.
  • If possible, move the tension lever to the lower slot on its track so the metal axle that goes through the roller is lined up with the half circle on the frame. Then remove metal axle by pulling it out.
  • Note the four guide holes the axle needs to go through. Two in front and two in back. Reinstall the roller by lining it up, pushing the metal axle through the first two guide holes, all the way through the roller, then out the two guide holes in the back and resting on the frame.
  • Once reinstalled move the tension lever from its slot and move it to the right. This should extend the spring, and the roller should extend to the left.
  • Now reinstall the burner/roller assembly by placing it on the arms inside the machine and pushing it in. Do not be afraid to give it a good, hard, final push into the equipment so the prongs in the back are fully seated.
  • Reinstall the lug nuts and hand tighten them.
  • Reinstall the belt and restart to ensure belts are turning.
